Back in 1988, Bob and Eileen Van Staalduinen embarked on the mission of building a brand new funeral home; Knollcrest Funeral Home in Lombard was born. 35+ years seems like a long time for a successful business entity, but for a funeral home, that’s still in its infancy. Many have 3, 4 or even more generations and over 100 years of history. So, starting from the ground up is a very noble, but challenging process. With the blessings of God, and an incredibly supportive neighborhood, Knollcrest very quickly established itself as a very special place with an extremely capable staff of Funeral Directors and assistants who provided outstanding personal and professional service. The reward being the wholehearted support and trust of the community.
So much trust was built in fact, that Knollcrest was able to add Steuerle Chapel in Villa Park as part of the Knollcrest family of funeral services. Now, well into their second generation of their family serving their communities, with their children accepting the mission of carrying on the tradition. Having grown up living at the funeral home, they saw the commitment of their parents (and grandparents) providing compassionate service to every family who trusted Bob with their loved ones. That trust continues to be well placed at Knollcrest and Steuerle.
